These Terms are an agreement between you and LunarCut ("LunarCut", "we", "us") about the LunarCut video editor (the "Software"). By buying, downloading or using the Software, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not buy or use it.
1. What you are buying
LunarCut is a video editor delivered as a single HTML file that runs in your web browser on your own computer. It includes the editor, story templates, an offline AI voice, auto captions, built-in sound effects and gameplay backgrounds. It is a one-time purchase. It is sold through Payhip, which handles checkout and delivery of your download. Payments are processed by Payhip's payment providers (such as PayPal or Stripe), and their own terms and policies also apply to your purchase.
2. Your licence
When you pay, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software on computers you personally own or use. You may:
- use it for personal and commercial projects;
- keep backup copies for yourself.
You may not:
- share, give away, upload, resell, rent or publish the Software, your download link or your update email;
- let other people use your copy on their own devices;
- remove our copyright notices, or the third-party licence notices and credits inside the Software;
- extract the built-in sound effects, gameplay backgrounds, voices or other built-in media to sell or share them on their own;
- copy, modify or repackage the Software to sell or distribute it as your own product.
The Software is licensed to you, not sold. We keep all rights we do not expressly give you. We may end your licence if you break these Terms; if that happens, you must stop using and delete the Software. Our End User Licence Agreement (EULA) gives the full licence terms.
3. Third-party components
The Software includes open-source code, fonts, speech and voice models, images, sample media from other creators, and gameplay footage provided by Dope Gameplays, each used under its own licence or permission. These are listed in the Software under Settings → Licences and notices and Settings → Credits, and those licences apply to those components. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under them.
4. Your videos and content
Everything you create or import stays yours. LunarCut does not receive, upload or claim any rights to your videos, audio, images or projects. You are responsible for making sure you have the rights to the content you edit and publish, including music, footage and people who appear in it, and for the words you give the AI voice and the templates.
The built-in sound effects are original LunarCut sounds that you may use in your own videos, including commercial ones. You may not extract and sell or distribute them as a sound library.
You may use the built-in gameplay backgrounds in your own videos, including monetized ones, as part of a video you made. You may not extract the clips or sell or share them on their own.
5. Story templates and the AI voice
The Reddit, X, text, DM, Discord, Snapchat and podcast templates imitate the look of those apps so you can tell stories. When you use them and the AI voice, you agree not to:
- impersonate a real person, brand or company;
- present a made-up post, message or conversation as a real one in a way that misleads people;
- harass, defame or target anyone, or make content that is illegal;
- break the rules of the platform where you post.
Some platforms require you to label realistic AI-generated or altered content. Following those rules is your responsibility.
6. Games, trademarks and non-affiliation
The built-in gameplay backgrounds were recorded by LunarCut, except "Downhill", which is provided by Dope Gameplays (youtube.com/@DopeGameplays) with permission. The games shown, including Minecraft, belong to their owners, and LunarCut does not own them.
NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. NOT APPROVED BY OR ASSOCIATED WITH MOJANG OR MICROSOFT.
Reddit, X, Instagram, Discord, Snapchat, iMessage, YouTube and Minecraft are trademarks of their owners. LunarCut is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them, by Mojang or Microsoft, or by the maker of any game shown in the Software. When you post videos that use the gameplay backgrounds, you are responsible for following each game publisher's video guidelines (for Minecraft, see minecraft.net/usage-guidelines).
7. Automatic features
Features such as auto captions, the AI voice, silence removal, Flash edit, motion tracking and background removal work automatically and will sometimes make mistakes. Captions may mishear words or misspell names, and the AI voice may mispronounce words. Always review your video before you publish it.
8. Your projects are stored on your computer
Projects and media copies are saved in your browser's storage on your computer. Clearing your browser data, using private browsing, changing browsers or computers, or running out of storage can delete them. Emptying the Trash permanently deletes the projects in it. We cannot see or recover them for you. Use "Save backup file" to keep copies of anything important, and "Open a backup" to bring them back, including after you install a new version.
9. Updates and support
We may send new versions of the Software to the email address you bought it with, for example through Payhip's product update emails. We do not promise any future updates, new features or a specific level of support. We may change or stop offering the Software at any time; a copy you have already downloaded will keep working as it is.
10. System requirements
LunarCut needs a recent desktop version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari or another modern browser, and a computer with enough memory and storage for video editing. The Software is a large file because its voice, caption and background media are built in. Some features, such as export formats or speed, depend on your browser and hardware.
11. No warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not promise that the Software will be error-free, work on every computer, or never lose data. Some places do not allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
12. Limit of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, LUNARCUT WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, LOST PROJECTS OR LOST VIDEOS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Age
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Software. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to buy it.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The new version applies from the "Last updated" date shown above. If you keep using the Software after a change, you accept the new Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you live outside the US, you also keep any consumer protections that the law of your country gives you.
